Not your ordinary shirt buttons, these little wedge buttons are about 1/2 inch across in any direction - they vary slightly from one to the next. They're glazed in Turquoise on both the front and back.
Another case of playing around in the studio! The clay is a thrown slab of white earthenware - the texture was added while the slab was still on the wheel. I just cut the slab apart and Voila! We have buttons.
Not only will they work as fasteners for a garment, they'd also look nice on a hand knitted or crocheted scarf or neck warmer - or accenting a felted bag or purse.
Although the buttons are washable, it’s best if you either hand wash the garment or turn it inside out and hang or block it to dry.
Most of my buttons are made from textured slabs, but occasionally will use molds I've made just for this purpose, and sometimes they're the result of just playing around.
