I threw a slab of clay on my wheel, just goofing around - and, suddenly, I was cutting it apart into small pieces, drilling them and making the darned things into buttons! These 3 buttons are part of that 'goof-off' slab of white earthenware clay.
They're about 1 inch in length and 3/4 inch at the widest point and glazed in a combination of turquoise and black on both the front and back.
The perfect size for a hand knitted or crocheted scarf or neck warmer, they would also be perfect as an accent on a felted bag or purse.
I enjoy making buttons. I started doing them several years ago for a friend who creates wonderful felted handbags and totes as well as incredible quilted bags. She wanted something different than what she could find in the stores.
Although the buttons are washable, it’s best if you either hand wash the garment or turn it inside out and hang or block it to dry.
