These little wedge buttons were cut from a thrown slab of white clay - they measure approximately 1 1/4 inch at the widest point and 3/4 inches, and dressed in a Smoky Gray glaze that in the right light, looks almost mossy green.
They're the perfect size for a hand knitted or crocheted scarf or neck warmer - also perfect as an accent on a felted bag or purse - anything that needs a funky button or two.
Although the buttons are washable, it’s best if you either hand wash the garment or turn it inside out and hang or block it to dry.
I enjoy making buttons. I started doing them several years ago for a friend who creates wonderful felted handbags and totes as well as incredible quilted bags. She wanted something different than what she could find in the stores.
Most of my buttons are made from textured slabs, but occasionally will use molds I've made just for this purpose.
