This pair of handmade buttons measures 1 3/8 inches in length, and 1 inch across. I used one of my many texturing 'tools' (or, toys, as one friend puts it...) to add the texture to a slab of clay and the results are what you see here. The ginkgo leaves have been glazed with a rich green glaze, then covered in celadon.
They're ideal for a handmade scarf or neck warmer, but would also be perfect as an accent on a felted bag or purse - or, hat - or, anything that needs a button or two.
Although the buttons are washable, it’s best if you either hand wash the garment or turn it inside out and hang or block it to dry.
Most of my buttons are made from textured slabs, but occasionally will use molds I've made just for this purpose.
