These handmade buttons remind me of an old, brocade prom dress I made in high school (yes, we had proms when dinosaurs roamed the earth - lol).
The trio of handmade buttons measures 1 3/8 inches in length, 1 inch wide and 1/8 inch thick. I used one my many 'found objects' to add the texture to a slab of Terra Cotta earthenware clay and the results are what you see here. They've been glazed with a Moss Green glaze that I think suits them perfectly.
The perfect size for a hand knitted or crocheted scarf or neck warmer, they would also be perfect as an accent on a felted bag or purse.
I enjoy making buttons. I started doing them several years ago for a friend who creates wonderful felted handbags and totes as well as incredible quilted bags. She wanted something different than what she could find in the stores.
Although the buttons are washable, it’s best if you either hand wash the garment or turn it inside out and hang or block it to dry.
